Prepare your images for Pinterest

  • Pinterest recommends 2:3 images at 1000 × 1500 pixels.
  • Keep your subject and any important text inside the crop area.
  • Use Adjust before downloading, especially when turning a landscape or square image into a portrait Pin.
  • Start with a clear, high-resolution original. Enlarging a small image cannot recover missing detail or sharpen blurry text.
  • Review your downloaded image in Pinterest before publishing to check that the subject and text are easy to see.

Frequently asked questions

What image size does Pinterest recommend?

Pinterest recommends a 2:3 portrait image at 1000 × 1500 pixels. This tool uses that format by default.

Will my image be cropped or stretched?

Your image is resized proportionally and cropped to fit the 2:3 portrait format, without stretching. Landscape and square images will lose some content from the sides, so review the preview before downloading.

Can I adjust the crop?

Yes. Choose Adjust beneath the result, then drag the crop area or use the arrow keys to reposition it. Choose Apply crop to create an updated image from your original upload.

Which images can I upload?

Upload one non-animated JPEG, PNG, or WebP image up to 10 MB and 40 megapixels. The 10 MB upload limit is separate from the output file size limit.

Can I resize a small image without losing quality?

You can upload a small image, but enlarging it cannot add detail that was missing from the original. Use a clear source large enough for the intended crop, and inspect the result for softness or blurry text.

Are my images saved?

No. Images are processed in request memory and returned directly to your browser. They are not stored in your account.

Which image formats can I download?

Images without transparency download as JPEG. Images with an alpha channel download as PNG to preserve transparency, including when the uploaded file is WebP. Outputs are no larger than 20 MB; check the dimensions and file size shown with the preview.
